Hello everyone,
My first attempt at my own cross stitch design is complete:
The idea is that I have a set of two- the second will have the other half of this Twin Peaks quote on it. The more 'free written' writing is meant to indicate the writing in blood, found in the railway carriage where Laura Palmer was murdered. Eek. Though also, this is a practice, and I am yet to completely decide which letter styles I like, sizes, etc.
Also finished the octopus, and have become rather attached to him. I may well upload a picture of him later.
Good Thursday!

Stitchin'
Happy Easter all!
So this bank holiday, I have been doing some research into different types of crafting, and finding new inspiration on Etsy.
Whilst doing this, I have come across the work of Aimee Ray, who has written some cute books on embroidery, and has some lovely patterns for sale in her Etsy shop.
This blog post of Aimee's re threadwork is really great. I thought I would share it with you all.
Happy Bank Holiday Monday!

Click clack
Happy spring to all you bloggers!!
I am busy working away on my studies and a commission for a purple octopus at present. I will upload a photo once he is finished.
Teaching is pretty much over for the year, and this is a comfort as it means I can focus solely on my thesis work.
I hope to post lots of interesting things over the next while, and perhaps finally sort out an Etsy shop.
I leave you with a picture of a very pretty bicycle to brighten your day (if your day is anything like the cloudy one we are having here in Liverpool). This bicycle looks set to be my investment of this year. (Picture found online)
Bye for now.

Inspiration
I just came across this lovely cushion on Landbaby's facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Landbaby-at-the-Bluecoat/89408539268 Anybody who knows me, knows that I do like biscuits. Quite a lot, actually. So this seems like the perfect item for a gal like me. I may well dabble in some biscuit related craft at some point. Hmm... In other news, I am going to be making a squiddly (see last post) for a friend of mine in purple, so that's exciting!

Branching out
Apologies blog followers for the hiatus in posts. January always leaves me feeling blue, and I didn't have many crafty things to show for it.
Now however we are in February and I am excited about bicycle riding, longer days, and hopefully, in the near future, warmer.
To celebrate February, here is squiddly Dudley, he is a cook in the Royal Navy and his speciality is curry. What a cute guy. This pattern is from Nicky Trench's book 'Super Cute Crochet'. Intrigued? Get the book and have a go! I was relieved to find that this pattern was very straight forward.
If anyone would like me to make a squiddly Dudley for them for an occasion, we can talk commissions ;)
Happy Sunday!

Christmas gifts
So this year, I decided I would make a cross stitch for Cormac, after seeing on Etsy a person that does Twin Peaks cross stitch. I thought this was a smashing idea and had a go at doing my own. Here is the finished product. I am rather pleased with it! Note to self: abstract shapes are difficult to do with crosses on aida...
By the way, if anyone wants to commission me to make them a Twin Peaks cross stitch, let me know! It can be a different phrase, colour, etc. from the one here.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and that 2012 brings you joy and success.
